Halfway There

Is it just me or do you also find it hard to believe that it’s July? Where has the time gone?

During my drive home last week, I thought about how much time has passed and started freaking out a little. I thought about all the things I want to do but haven’t put a lot of action towards.

This year has been great, but there are still a few things I want to accomplish before the year ends. Can anyone relate?

There are ideas and projects sitting in my head that I keep telling myself I’ll get to later, but “later” has gone from days to weeks to months. This boils down to balance and priorities. It’s sometimes easy for me to give my all to my 9-5 but not put in the same energy towards my passion projects.

I recently remembered one of the key things that got me through undergrad, which was setting the tone for my week with a quote or Bible verse. I would write those encouraging words on a 3×5 note card and clip it to the top of my planner.

My planner was usually always open during class or while studying, so I would look at the words when I was in a funk or when my mind was in a million places at once.

Not only would the words calm me down, they also motivated me to keep going and to keep the bigger picture in mind. I recently vowed to myself that I would set aside time at the beginning of each week, like I once did, to find words to guide me. This week, I’m using Matthew 19:26 and a quote from Michelle Obama.

It’s important to keep in mind that this year is NOT over, and it’s not too late to set a new goal or work towards something you’ve put on the back burner. I hope the second half of your year will be even better than the first.
