Can I let you in on something?
Being a young adult can be tough. There’s pressure from all over to achieve a certain level of perfection. I have to look “this” way, be “this” weight, act like “this” and I could go on.
Constantly thinking about these things can be paralyzing because they can consume your thoughts and make you think of all the things you consider shortcomings in your life.
I was recently reminded that I’m just fine. Better than that, I’m perfectly made.
My co-workers and I took a yoga class last week, which was intimidating but cool at the same time. The instructor, in a soft-spoken manner, went over what we would do, how we should breathe and how we should feel.
During her intro, she said something like, “No matter if you’re able to do something or not, remember you’re perfectly made.”
I thought to myself, “Oop, you betta preach!” I came for yoga and ended up at church.
She said those words several times throughout the class, which was very affirming.
“Whether your arms can reach or not, remember you’re perfectly made.”
“Be conscious of your breathing and remember you’re perfectly made.”
My mind instantly went to Psalm 139:14 every time she said it.
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
As she continuously said those words, I thought to myself, “I may not be where I want to be in ‘this’ area of my life, but I’m perfectly made.” I’m perfectly made because of the One who created me.
I walked out of class reminded that I don’t have to be what the world considers “perfect.” I’m created just the way I’m supposed to be.
Even though the pressures from society may never go away, I’m striving to always remember that I’m perfectly made.
And so are you!
I love this! This is so wonderful. I’m reading through some of your posts and love the positive messages. It can be hard sometimes to feel like you’re struggling, or the only one going through something, or feel like you’re falling short. Your posts do a great job of offering a new perspective. I like this one especially because yes, this is how God created us, individually. Look forward to reading more!
