What Do You Want

There’s nothing like being in a place where every good emotion seems to come to you at once. For me, that place is New York.

Ever since my first time going in December 2018, I can’t seem to get enough (and I’m completely fine with it). It’s the energy, the lights, the fast-paced mentality and the creativity that makes it so special to me.

I spent my birthday there last week and had an experience that was different than the first. The first time, I was caught up in the whimsy and sparkle of everything. This time, I found myself thinking a lot about my future and what my next move should be.

There was a moment when I was overlooking the city at the Top of the Rock experience in Rockefeller Center, and my cousin Altregia Jordan’s Facebook Live broadcast came to mind. The broadcast was titled “Keep Going.”

This was my view of the city. I guess I was looking at my future since I wasn’t looking at the camera.

She talked about her journey running the 2019 Peachtree Road Race, and the challenges she faced that almost caused her to not complete it. There were times before and during the race where she could have given up, but she found the determination and strength to finish.

Altregia compared that moment to life and how we have to keep pushing forward when things get tough and it seems like we can’t see the finish line. We have to want it. Whatever “it” may be.

She ended the broadcast by asking, “What is it that you really want God to do for you this year because it’s not too late?”

That hit me heavy, and I remember repeatedly asking myself, “Caleb, what do you want?”

As I stood 70 floors high in Rockefeller Center, that question came back to me and I want to ask you the same thing.

What do you want?

Are you willing to put in the work to get it?

This year isn’t over, so we have the opportunity to keep running after our goals. It only takes one step, crawl or hop at a time.
