The Little Things

Have you ever had one of “those” days or one of “those” weeks?

“Those” can be defined as stressful, uneasy, saddening, draining and the list goes on and on.

It’s easy to go through those times and feel completely alone because you think no one will understand what you’re dealing with.

This was me last week. I felt a little off and didn’t know how to re-focus myself. Normally, I can quickly get myself together but not this time.

The only thing I could think of by the end of the week was to get a different perspective. I reached out to one of my best friends and said, “I need some nachos, a virgin margarita and a good talk.”

My friend quickly said, “Of course!”

Two days later, we sat face-to-face with nachos and passion fruit smoothies in front of us and I let everything out. My friend broke down everything I said and coached me on my next steps.

I got up from the table an hour and a half later with a new mindset and a renewed focus.

That time was something small and not out of the ordinary for my friend but meant everything to me. It reminded me that the smallest things go a long way.

If you’re in the place I was, reach out to someone who can give a listening ear and sound advice.

If you notice your friend or loved one is not themselves, offer some words of encouragement because you never know how a few words can change their outlook.

It doesn’t matter if it’s a pat on the back, a smile or a simple conversation, something is never not enough.
